Pictures have always been about telling a story for me. Time moves quickly, we sometimes lose people long before we feel ready, and the actual memories in my mind seem to fade but a picture helps me remember. It takes me back just like a specific song, love notes from Dave, my father’s rough and rugged hands, or the smell of my Grandpa’s Copenhagen. It reminds me of the little details my mind has lost track of. How small Colby was, Kynslee’s favorite pink pants, Ava’s eyes that could stop you on a dime, and Boedy’s silliness and adventurous spirit. I’ve never regretted taking a picture and for me that’s where it all began. Growing up my Dad only referred to me by the nickname Jae Ann and I passed that name on to both my girls (Kynslee Ann & Ava Jae ). It seemed so fitting to me to bring it full circle and give this business a name that has a whole lot of heart behind it. Jae Ann Photography was built on that – telling a story and having some fun along the way. I’m my most authentic self behind the camera and Jae Ann Photography is the work of so many – not just me. It’s the wall that my Dad and I put up together, the door from my best friend Sandy Bebo and the stenciled floor my mom had faith in. But long before that it’s every single person who cheered me on and told me I could do it. Sometimes we need someone else to see something amazing in us before we are able to see it in ourselves.
